Student Fees in Bulgarian Universities – from BGN 200 to EUR 7700

The annual fees for the training of students in the Bulgarian universities for the next 2019/2020 will vary between BGN 200 and EUR 7700. This is understood by a draft decision of the Council of Ministers, which has been put into public discussion, reports Dnevnik. 

Some universities offer an increase in fees for some of the specialties, with the step being between 15 and 100 leva. It is planned that the state higher schools will collect some BGN 136 million from the students next year.

At St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, the annual training fee in the fields of Administration and Management, Economics and Tourism, where the places subsidized by the state are reduced every year, will be BGN 460. The fee for a shortage such as “Pedagogy in …” will be like this year’s 200 leva. The training in philology specialties increases by 100 leva and the fee is 400 leva.

Journalism training costs 600 leva per year, 800 leva by law, and 925 leva in medicine. The medical training fee for English for newcomers in non-EU countries is 7700 euros. At the Medical University of Sofia for the same specialty will be paid from BGN 900 to EUR 4800 per year.

At the University of National and World Economy (UNWE), the lowest fees are for education in the fields of Administration and Management and Economics – BGN 462 per year for full-time education of Bulgarian citizens. The fees for foreign language training in majors of the same field amount to 3800 euros.

At the Technical University of Sofia the fees vary from 350 leva to 3000 Euro for training of foreign citizens. The tuition fees in the field of Technical Sciences are 700 leva.

At the Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski”, the training per year costs from 480 leva to 3000 Euros. In the “Angel Kanchev” University of Rousse, the fees are from 500 leva to 3000 Euro, and in Southwest University “Neofit Rilski” in Blagoevgrad – from 530 to 4450 Euros.
